We appreciate the ongoing patience and support of parents/guardians during this time of province-wide labour unrest and uncertainty in our schools.
Given the current cumulative impact of provincial labour action on the part of elementary teachers and WRDSB support staff (secretaries, custodians and supervision monitors in schools as well as some central staff), the Waterloo Region District School Board, along with most other public school boards in Ontario, is postponing Elementary Progress Reports.
We will continue to monitor the labour situation and will provide the Elementary Progress Reports if time allows. This means that if the situation is resolved it may be possible that school staff will provide Progress Reports for students. However, if the job action continues, there may not be sufficient time to provide Elementary Progress Reports, as school staff will be focused on the completion and distribution of Term 1 Report Cards.
We understand that this situation is frustrating for you and we share your frustration. We understand parents want information about their child’s progress. As always, if you have any questions about how your child is doing in school, you may contact your child’s teacher.
Our priority during any job action is the safety and well-being of our students. We will continue to monitor the situation and its impact on Waterloo Region District School Board students. We are committed to keeping you informed and will update www.wrdsb.ca/labour as information becomes available.
Thank you for your patience, support and understanding.
