Dear Parents/Guardians,

We have many families that are dog owners.  We know it’s nice to take the dog for a walk and drop-off or pick-up your child to and from school at the same time.  However, it is the expectation that pet dogs are not to be on school property – especially at the beginning and end of the school day when there are many children walking and running about.  Some children may be afraid of dogs, and the behaviour of a dog is never 100% predictable.

Service dogs are exempt from this expectation and would be clearly identified as a service dog, following WRDSB Procedure 2020.

We are in the process of installing signs on school property, like those already in place at many other schools,  reminding parents and the community about this expectation.  While that work order is being processed, I trust this letter will fulfill the commitment to communicate the “No Dogs on School Property” expectation to our school community.

Please feel free to contact me should you have any questions.

Respectfully,

T. Tait
