Each year, the Christmas Miracle Food Hamper Project provides 50 families with food hampers containing 3 days worth of meals, including Christmas dinner, along with new hats and mittens for children.
The theme of “Toonies or Tins” means that at Pioneer Park School children can decorate trees with stickers by donating a toonie, and/or a non-perishable food item. All the trees for area schools will be displayed in the window of the Doon Pioneer Park Community Association.
Suggested food items:
Peanut butter, honey, pork and beans, juice, cranberry jelly, 28oz cans of beef stew or soups, canned meat, tuna, canned ham, dry pasta, 1kg bags of plain rolled oats, canned vegetables, rice.
Community donations are what makes this program successful, and provides an important part in our school community, promoting social awareness and responsibility.
The program runs until Wednesday, December 14th. All donations will be picked up on December 15th.
Thank you for helping us give back to our community!
